Scope

This standard defines the terms used in high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems and HVDC converter stations that use power converters to convert alternating current (AC) into direct current (DC) or convert DC into AC. This standard applies to HVDC converter stations that have grid-side converters typically based on a three-phase bridge (two-way) connection using unidirectional electronic valves (such as semiconductor valves) (see Figure 2).
