Scope
The first chapter of GB 2099.1—2008 is replaced by the following:
This part of GB 2099 specifies the technical requirements for extension cord sockets, including rated values, marking, dimensional inspection, protection against electric shocks, structure, electrical performance, and mechanical performance.
This part applies to extension cord sockets used indoors or outdoors, for household and similar purposes, with detachable or non-detachable cords, with or without grounding contacts, rated voltages above 50 V but not exceeding 440 V, and rated currents not exceeding 16 A.
This part also applies to extension cord sockets intended for use on cable reels, thus becoming cable reels with detachable flexible cables.
This part also applies to portable sockets intended for installation on extension cord sockets.
This part does not apply to extension cord sockets with reel devices.
Extension cord sockets are suitable for use in the following ambient temperatures: typically not exceeding +40 °C, but not exceeding +35 °C during an average 24-hour period, with a minimum ambient air temperature of -5 °C.
