Scope

This document specifies the technical requirements and verification procedures for irrigation water meters (hereinafter referred to as water meters). This document does not consider the water quality used by the water meters, nor does it consider the design techniques used to measure the actual volume of hot or cold water flowing through closed full pipes. This document is applicable to water meters equipped with cumulative flow indication devices. This document is applicable to water meters based on electrical or electronic principles, as well as to water meters based on mechanical principles equipped with electronic devices for measuring the actual volume flow of cold water. This document sets forth metrological requirements for electronic auxiliary devices attached to metering control systems. In this document, auxiliary devices are optional. However, some auxiliary devices related to water meter applications are stipulated by national or international regulations.
