Scope

In order to standardize the design of tailings piles in metallurgical mines, implement national technical and economic policies, and achieve the goals of safety and environmental protection for tailings piles in metallurgical mines, these regulations are formulated. These regulations apply to the design of new, reconstructed, and expanded tailings piles in metallurgical mines. The design of tailings piles in metallurgical mines should implement such principles and policies as saving land, water and soil conservation, geological disaster prevention and control, land reclamation, and environmental protection. In addition to complying with these regulations, the design of tailings piles in metallurgical mines shall also comply with the provisions of the relevant national standards currently in force.
