Scope
This part specifies the classification and designations of non-heat-treated cold heading steel wires (hereinafter referred to as steel wires), the order content, dimensions, shapes, weights, and allowable deviations, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, and quality certificates. This part is applicable to round steel wires used in the manufacture of ordinary rivets and screws, bolts and studs and other fasteners, as well as other cold-formed parts. Fasteners and other cold-formed parts generally do not require heat treatment after cold heading and cold extrusion forming.
