GB/T 11275-2007 Surface active agents—Determination of water content
Basic Information
Scope
This standard specifies the method for determining the water content of surfactants. For powdered, paste-like, and liquid products with a water content (mass fraction) greater than 5%, the toluene azeotropic distillation method can be used. However, the azeotropic distillation method is not suitable for products containing water-soluble volatile substances, such as products containing ethanol. For powdered, paste-like, and liquid products with a water content (mass fraction) less than 1%, the Karl Fischer method is the only acceptable method. However, if the sample contains alkaline compounds such as silicates, carbonates, hydroxides, and borates, it will affect the measurement value. Therefore, the alkaline compounds in the sample should be analyzed before the measurement.
