GB/T 5487-2015 Determination of the gasoline octane number—Test method for research octane number
Basic Information
Scope
This standard specifies the test method for determining the octane number of gasoline (research method) using a CFR octane number testing machine. This standard is applicable to the determination of the octane number of spark-ignition engine fuels by the research method, but not applicable to fuels and their components mainly composed of oxidized compounds. Note: The octane number range is between 0 and 120, but the effective research method octane number determination range of this standard is 40 to 120. The research method octane number of commercially available fuels for automotive spark-ignition engines ranges between 88 and 101. Different grades of research method octane numbers can be obtained through tests of gasoline blending components or other liquid substances. The values of the operating conditions of this standard are expressed in SI units, and the values in imperial units are indicated in parentheses for reference. For standard CFR engine technical requirements, the values are expressed in imperial units.
