Scope

This standard specifies the technical requirements for compression springs made from rectangular-section metal wire, and provides color markings for each spring grade. The parameters of this standard apply to the installation of springs, but do not stipulate the quality of the springs themselves, nor do they address all spring dimensions (such as cross-sectional dimensions), materials, or lifespan. This standard classifies springs into four grades: light, medium, heavy, and extra-heavy.
