Scope

This document describes the clinical diagnosis, sample collection, preservation, and transportation of avian influenza virus (AIV) infections, as well as laboratory diagnostic methods such as virus isolation and identification, hemagglutination (HA) and hemagglutination inhibition (HI) tests, RT-PCR methods, and real-time fluorescent RT-PCR methods. It also specifies the relevant requirements for biosafety measures.
This document is applicable to the diagnosis of AIV and the detection of AIV in products, including but not limited to poultry meat, down feathers, feathers, beef, milk, and leather.
