Scope
This document specifies the method outline, instrumentation, testing steps, method precision, and result calculation for the combustion loss method and carbon content determination method (high temperature combustion-infrared spectroscopy) used to determine the combustible matter in fly ash and slag discharged from coal-fired boilers. The combustion loss method is suitable for the supervision of coal-fired boiler operation, and Method A of the combustion loss method and the carbon content determination method (high temperature combustion-infrared spectroscopy) are suitable for the determination of combustible matter in fly ash and slag during performance tests of boiler units.
