Scope
This document specifies the user requirements for message authentication codes (MAC) using specially designed hash functions, and provides three MAC algorithms that employ specially designed hash functions.
Note 1: These MAC algorithms can be used for data integrity verification, checking whether the data has been unauthorizedly modified.
This document is applicable to security architectures, processes, and security services of applications.
