Scope

This document is applicable to the magnetic memory inspection and evaluation of ferromagnetic metal components (including welded joints). By measuring the surface magnetic field indicators (magnetic field strength and magnetic field direction), the microstructure, manufacturing process, and working load of the inspected objects can be evaluated, and recommendations can be provided for selecting other non-destructive testing methods for welded joints. When non-ferromagnetic inspected objects contain ferromagnetic phases (such as metastable austenitic steel, oxide scale, and coatings), magnetic memory inspection technology can be used for detection. The magnetic memory inspection of buried steel pipes and supporting components and structural parts related to pressure equipment can be carried out in accordance with this document.
