Scope

This standard specifies two test methods, A and B, for the sealing performance of gasket seals used in pipe flanges. Both test methods of this standard are applicable to asbestos rubber gaskets, non-asbestos rubber gaskets, rubber gaskets, polytetrafluoroethylene gaskets, expanded or modified polytetrafluoroethylene gaskets, flexible graphite composite gaskets, wrapped gaskets, metal-coated gaskets, polytetrafluoroethylene-coated gaskets, and serrated metal, corrugated metal, and serrated-corrugated metal gaskets with non-metallic cover layers, etc. Metal flat gaskets can also be tested using these methods as a reference.
