Scope
This section specifies the requirements for the components of the fieldbus, as well as the necessary media and network configuration requirements to ensure consistency in the following aspects: a) Data integrity before error checking at the data link layer; b) Interoperability between devices at the physical layer. The physical layer of the fieldbus complies with Layer 1 of the OSI 7-layer model defined in ISO/IEC 7498, with exceptions: for some bus types, the frame delimiter is at the physical layer, while for other types, the frame delimiter is at the data link layer.
