Scope

This standard specifies guidelines for the production of original printed documents, so that they can be more easily copied by microfilming or scanning.
Although this standard is primarily aimed at Latin alphabet documents, its general principles are also applicable to the production of documents using other alphabets or symbols.
This standard does not apply to the technical drawing conditions given in GB/T 14689 and GB/T 10609.4. Similarly, it does not apply to special microfilm technology or related scanning applications (such as bank checks or barcode scanning).
