Scope

This document stipulates the general requirements for the welfare of laboratory animals, including welfare requirements, welfare status, welfare supervision and evaluation requirements, and specifies the requirements for the sources, breeding, and medical care of laboratory animals involved in the use of laboratory animals, as well as the training and competency requirements of laboratory animal management institutions, user institutions, and practitioners, occupational health and safety, and equipment and facility conditions.
This document applies to the breeding, supply, and/or use of laboratory animals in research (including testing) and higher education. When using non-vertebrate animals, developing animals, or cells, tissues, and organs obtained from animals for use as biological products or scientific research purposes, this document shall be referred to for implementation.
