This document specifies the classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, certificates and markings, transportation, and storage of marine lifeboats (hereinafter referred to as "lifeboats").
This document applies to the design, manufacture, and acceptance of lifeboats installed on ships. Lifeboats used for both rescue and survival purposes should refer to and implement the provisions of this document accordingly.
