Main technical content: 6. Cultivation and management 6.1 Seedling breeding: Using such rootstocks as Duli pears, Douli pears, and Qiuzi pears. The specific choice of rootstock should depend on the cultivation area. Collect scions from seedling nurseries or healthy, high-yielding mature trees and propagate seedlings by grafting. 6.2 Planting time: Planting should be carried out from late November to late December or from mid to late March of the following year. 6.3 Planting density: Depending on the variety, rootstock type, tree shape, soil, fertilizer, and water conditions, as well as management level, Red-skinned pears can be planted with a spacing of 1m × 4m, 1.5m × 4m, or 2m × 4m, with 1,245 to 2,490 trees per hectare. 6.4 Fertilization and irrigation: Apply basal fertilizer in autumn, with about 30 tons of composted organic fertilizer per hectare. Apply appropriate amounts of fertilizer during the growing season and irrigate as needed. All fertilizers used should comply with relevant national regulations. 6.5 Shaping and pruning: Combine winter pruning and summer pruning, leaving no more than 50,000 branches per hectare to ensure good air and light conditions for the trees. 6.6 Disease and pest control: Prevent and control diseases and pests in a timely manner, and use chemical inputs such as pesticides in accordance with relevant national regulations. 6.7 Fruit harvesting: Start harvesting from mid-August to mid-September when the soluble solids content reaches ≥11%.
