Scope

This standard specifies the terms, definitions, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage for low-speed CAN (Controller Area Network) data transmission node systems used for automotive lighting and signal control. This standard applies to low-speed CAN data transmission node systems (hereinafter referred to as "systems") used in various automotive low-voltage wiring harnesses (hereinafter referred to as "wiring harnesses") with a nominal voltage of less than 50V.
