Scope

This part specifies the method of using a connected exciter to single-point translational excitation to measure the mechanical admittance or other frequency response functions of structures such as buildings, machines, and vehicles. This part is applicable to the measurement of admittance, acceleration admittance, or displacement admittance, which can be either drive point measurement or transfer measurement. It is also applicable to determining the reciprocals of these ratios, such as free effective mass. Although a single-point excitation is used, there is no limit to the number of measurement points for the motion response that can be measured simultaneously, for example, the multi-point response measurement required in modal analysis.
