Scope

Scope: This document specifies the selection of bitter melon seedlings, environmental conditions, seedling facilities, pre-sowing preparation, seedling cultivation, seedling management, seedling quality requirements, and seedling records. This document applies to bitter melon seedling cultivation. Main Technical Content: 1. Terminology and Definitions: There are no terms or definitions requiring definition in this document. 2. Variety Selection: Select high-yielding, disease-resistant, high-commercial value, market-adapted, and locally cultivatable excellent varieties. Seed quality should meet the requirements of GB 16715.1. 3. Environmental Conditions: Environmental conditions should comply with GB 3095 and GB 5084. 4. Seedling Facilities 4.1 Facility Selection: Preferably use greenhouses or large-scale tents. 4.2 Seedbed Specifications: - Seedbed length ≤ 40 m, width 1.3 m–1.6 m, and height 0.9 m–1.0 m. 4.3 Seedling Containers 4.3.1 Cell trays: Use 50-hole or 72-hole cell trays. 4.3.2 Nutrient pots: Pot diameter 8 cm–10 cm, height 9 cm–12 cm. 5. Pre-sowing Preparation 5.1 Greenhouse Disinfection: 7–10 days before sowing, clean the greenhouse and disinfect with 300–500 times diluted limewater solution for 24 hours after sealing. 5.2 Substrate Preparation: Use a 3:1:1 mixture of peat moss, vermiculite, and perlite. The physicochemical properties should meet the requirements of NY/T 2118. Add 1.2 kg of N:P2O5:K2O (15:15:15) and 25 g of 50% wettable powder fungicide to each cubic meter of substrate, mix well, and set aside. 5.3 Substrate Filling 5.3.1 Cell tray disinfection: Rinse new cell trays 2–3 times with clean water; clean used trays and soak in 800–1000 times diluted potassium permanganate solution for 30 minutes before use. 5.3.2 Substrate pre-wetting: Sprinkle and mix the substrate until it can be kneaded into a ball with the hands and scattered when dropped on the ground. 5.3.3 Seedling tray filling: Fill the seedling t
