Scope

This document establishes the experimental principles for the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) assay of partition coefficients (octanol-water) and stipulates the requirements for test substance information, reference substances, experimental preparation, experimental procedures, quality assurance and quality control, and data and report content.
This document is applicable to the determination of partition coefficients of chemicals with an LgPow value of 0 to 6, and can also be extended to chemicals with an LgPow value of 6 to 10 under special circumstances; it is not applicable to strong acids, strong bases, metal complexes, chemicals that react with the eluent, and surfactants.
