Scope
This standard specifies the determination of the purity of p-xylene in petroleum and the content of hydrocarbon impurities by gas chromatography. This standard is applicable to the determination of the purity of p-xylene in petroleum not less than 99.0% (by mass fraction). For non-aromatic hydrocarbons, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, meta-xylene, ortho-xylene, isopropylbenzene, and p-dibenzylbenzene, the detection limit of hydrocarbon impurities is 0.001% (by mass fraction).
