Scope
This standard specifies the technical requirements for physical vapor deposition aluminum coatings on low-carbon steel, low-alloy steel, high-strength steel, corrosion-resistant steel, aluminum alloy, titanium alloy, and other suitable base metals.
Physical vapor deposition aluminum coatings are not suitable for application on various steels with a tensile strength of > 1,400 MPa, as the corrosion or excessive cathodic protection of such steels during use and storage may lead to hydrogen embrittlement.
