GB/T 18153-2024 Safety of machinery—Safety data to establish temperature limit values for touchable hot surfaces

Scope

This document specifies the burn threshold for human skin when it comes into contact with hot surfaces of machines or workpieces, and describes the method for determining the temperature limits of hot surfaces to prevent skin burns.
This document does not specify temperature limits for the hot surfaces of specific machines or workpieces, nor does it provide data to prevent pain.
This document applies to contacts where the surface temperature remains essentially constant during the contact (see 4.1) and the contact time is not less than 0.5 s.
This document does not apply to situations involving large-area skin contact with hot surfaces covering 10% or more of the total skin area.
This document also does not apply to contacts covering more than 10% of the head skin, or contacts that result in burns to critical areas of the face.
Note: In some cases, the consequences of contact with hot surfaces may be more severe, such as:
——Burns that cause respiratory distress;
——Large-area burns covering 10% or more of the total skin area may damage the circulatory system due to fluid loss;
——Heating of a large proportion of the head or entire body, even without burns, may cause unacceptable heat stress reactions.
