GB/T 23902-2021 Non-destructive testing—Ultrasonic testing—Time-of-flight diffraction technique as a method for detection and sizing of discontinuities
Basic Information
Scope
This document sets forth the general principles of the time-of-flight diffraction (TOFD) ultrasonic testing method. This document is applicable to the detection of discontinuities in low-alloy and carbon steel components. This document is also applicable to other types of materials, provided that the geometric shape of the components, the acoustic properties of the materials, and the detection sensitivity are fully considered when using the TOFD ultrasonic testing method. This document is generally applicable to the detection of discontinuities in materials covered by ISO 16810, including welds, which can be used for reference. The reason for choosing this method is its clear ultrasonic probe position and scanning direction. Unless otherwise specified in the referenced documents, this document applies to the minimum requirements. Unless otherwise explicitly stated, this document applies to the following grades specified in ISO 16811: -- Class 1, no restrictions; -- Classes 2 and 3, applicable to specified restrictions.
