Scope
This standard specifies the magnetic particle inspection method for determining the acceptance limits of surface discontinuities when a detection procedure is agreed upon in the contract at the request of the buyer. This standard applies to magnetic particle inspections of ferromagnetic cast steel parts produced by various casting methods. When the magnetic field strength is 2.4 kA/m, if the magnetic induction intensity of the steel is greater than 1 T, it is considered a ferromagnetic steel. Note: Like all non-destructive testing methods, this standard forms part of the overall assessment or special assessment stipulated in the contract.
