Scope

This document specifies the general requirements for towing bar connectors and their matching towing bar hooks, the determination of Dc and V values, dynamic tests, static tests, and strength requirements. This document applies to the strength tests of towing bar hooks and their matching towing bar connectors used on the following models: -- Rigid towing bar trailers with a maximum design total mass exceeding 3,500 kg, exceeding 10% of the maximum design total mass of the trailer, and/or with a vertical static load of more than 1,000 kg but not exceeding 2,000 kg acting on the towing vehicle's towing bar; -- Vehicle transport trailers with a maximum design total mass exceeding 3,500 kg and their trains. This document does not apply to the strength tests of towing bar connectors and their matching towing bar hooks specified in ISO 123571.
