Scope

This standard specifies the basic safety requirements for local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems.
This standard applies to fixed industrial local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems used to prevent or avoid human exposure to harmful substances in the air in industrial environments.
This standard does not apply to local exhaust ventilation (LEV) systems used for the following purposes:
——comfortable ventilation;
——transporting air as part of an industrial process;
——paint booths not primarily intended to protect people;
——energy conservation;
——special purposes, special purification, and special protection requirements.
