Scope

This document specifies the sample preparation, sample testing, and calculation of test results for determining the oxygen content in continuous silicon carbide fibers using the inert gas melting infrared absorption method. This document is applicable to the determination of the total oxygen content in continuous silicon carbide fibers using the inert gas melting infrared absorption method. The oxygen content testing of non-continuous silicon carbide fibers and substrates shall refer to this document. The oxygen content testing of other ceramic fibers shall refer to this document.
