Scope

This document specifies the specimens, gap components, and assembly used for gap corrosion testing of stainless steel flat or tubular specimens in corrosive solutions, as well as the associated documentation. This document does not specify how to conduct gap corrosion testing or how to evaluate the results of the corrosion test. This document is applicable to disc spring gap corrosion configurations of stainless steel flat or tubular specimens. If the specimen is designed for electrical connection, the gap corrosion configuration specified in this document can also be used for electrochemical measurements.
