Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions for the identification and evaluation of resistance to sugarcane mosaic disease, the selection and cultivation of materials, the inoculation of virus inoculum, the preparation of inoculation solution, the inoculation method, disease investigation, and resistance evaluation. This standard is applicable to germplasm resources of the genus Saccharum and its closely related genera, and interspecific hybrids of the genus Saccharum for the artificial inoculation identification and evaluation of resistance to sugarcane mosaic disease caused by sugarcane mosaic virus (SCMV), sorghum mosaic virus (SrMV), and sugarcane stripe mosaic virus (SCSMV). The identification and evaluation of resistance to mosaic disease caused by other viruses can be carried out with reference to this standard.
