Scope

This standard is formulated to ensure that the design of urban rapid rail transit meets the goals of safety and reliability, advanced technology, perfect functionality, economic feasibility, efficient operation, and energy conservation and environmental protection. This standard applies to the design of new, modified, or expanded urban rapid rail transit systems serving medium- and long-distance passenger traffic within urban areas, with a maximum operating speed of 120 km/h to 160 km/h and using a steel wheel-steel rail system. In addition to complying with this standard, the design of urban rapid rail transit should also comply with the provisions of the relevant national standards currently in force.
