Scope

This document describes the sampling procedures and methods for measuring particle concentration and particle size distribution. The document recommends three methods: one is an automatic particle size analyzer that works based on the principle of light attenuation, and the other two are methods of counting particles on the surface of a filter membrane under transmitted light or incident light using an optical microscope. The optical microscope method is specified in GB/T 20082. The above three methods are suitable for particle testing of both used and unused insulating fluids. Appendix A provides a reference sampling procedure using a syringe as a sampling container. Appendix B provides a reference method for calibrating automatic particle counters.
