Scope

This standard is mainly applicable to the seismic design of level I, level II, and level III roller compacted earth-rock dams, concrete gravity dams, concrete arch dams, sluices, hydraulic underground structures, intake towers, pressure steel pipes of hydropower stations, and surface buildings, aqueducts, ship lifts, and other hydraulic structures with a design intensity of VI, VII, VIII, or IX. When the design intensity is VI, seismic calculations are not required, but seismic measures should still be taken in accordance with this standard. For hydraulic structures with a design intensity higher than IX, or for flood control structures with a height greater than 200m or those with special problems, their seismic safety should be subject to special research and verification.
