Scope

This standard specifies the preparation of samples, test methods, test instruments and equipment, test procedures, test results, and test reports for the pitting corrosion test of stainless steel with ferric chloride. This standard is applicable to evaluating the pitting corrosion resistance of various types of stainless steel in different ferric chloride solutions and different temperature environments, including the following test methods: a) Method A: 6% ferric chloride solution; b) Method B: 6% ferric chloride hydrochloric acid solution. It is recommended to use duplex stainless steel and CrNi austenitic stainless steel.
