Scope

This standard specifies the grades, dimensions and weights, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marking, and quality certificates of iron-chromium-aluminum fibers and filaments used in purification filters for motor vehicles.
This standard applies to iron-chromium-aluminum fibers and filaments used in metal fiber felts for diesel engine exhaust gas particulate filters (DPFs), and also to iron-chromium-aluminum fibers and filaments used in metal fiber felts or woven nets in the chemical, petroleum, and gas industries (hereinafter referred to as fibers and filaments).
