Scope
This standard specifies the classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and marking, packaging, transportation, and storage of marine medium- and low-pressure piston air compressors (hereinafter referred to as "air compressors"). This standard applies to the design, production, testing, and acceptance of marine medium- and low-pressure piston air compressors driven by electric motors with rated exhaust pressures of 3.0 MPa, 1.0 MPa, and 0.7 MPa. Marine air compressors driven by diesel engines and other marine air compressors with rated exhaust pressures not exceeding 4.0 MPa may also be implemented in accordance with this standard.
