GB/T 4942-2021 Degrees of protection provided by the integral design of rotating electrical machines(IP code)—Classification

Scope

This document applies to the classification of the protection level of the rotating motor housing. This document specifies the requirements for the protection of the housing, which should meet the usage requirements in all aspects. Under normal operating conditions, the materials and processing techniques of the housing should ensure that its performance meets the requirements of this document.
This document does not specify the protection level of the motor against mechanical damage or against conditions such as moisture (caused by condensation), corrosive gases, mold, pests, etc.
This document also applies to explosion-proof motors, but does not specify the explosion-proof types of the motor operating in explosive gas (dust, gas) environments, which are specified in the IEC 60079 series of documents.
In certain cases (such as agricultural or household appliances), more extensive preventive measures may be specified to avoid accidental or intentional contact.
This document specifies the standard protection levels for the rotating motor housing in the following aspects:
a)[ZK(] Prevent human contact with or proximity to the charged parts inside the housing and rotating components (except for smooth rotating shafts and similar components), as well as prevent solid foreign objects from entering the motor; [ZK)]
b) Prevent harmful effects caused by water entering the motor;
c) Prevent harmful effects caused by dust entering the motor.
This document specifies the marking of the protection level and the tests conducted to verify that the motor meets the requirements of this document.
