Scope

This standard specifies the filter membrane-microscopy counting method for determining phytoplankton in water. This standard is applicable to the rapid determination of phytoplankton in surface water. When the maximum filtration volume of the sample is 1000 ml, the method's detection limit is 40 cells/L. The method of calculating the detection limit is detailed in Appendix A.
