Scope

This standard specifies the determination of the content of oxyethylene groups in polyoxyethylene surfactants by the iodometry method.
This standard applies to polyethoxylated derivatives of saturated primary alcohols, oleic alcohols, saturated fatty acids, and linear and branched alkylphenols. If unreacted alcohols, fatty acids, or alkylphenols are present in the derivatives, this standard also applies.
If the derivatives contain sulfur or nitrogen, or if they also contain oxygen or halogens (such as oxypropyl groups) on the adjacent carbon atoms to the oxyethylene group, aldehydes or ketones, sterols, etc., this standard does not apply.
