Scope

This part specifies the method for determining the total carbon content in carbides and hard alloys. This part is applicable to the determination of the total carbon content in carbides of chromium, hafnium, molybdenum, niobium, tantalum, titanium, vanadium, tungsten, and zirconium, as well as mixtures of these carbides with bonding metals (without lubricants), and all grades of pre-sintered or sintered hard alloys produced from these carbides. The measurement range is: total carbon content greater than 4%.
