Scope

This document specifies the data structure and content of the communication interface between location-providing devices and location-using devices, provides a method of integrating various non-specific positioning technologies to obtain reliable location information, describes the path through which location-using devices obtain and clearly interpret location information via the communication interface, and presents a reliable measurement method for determining whether the positioning result information meets the intended purpose.
This document is applicable to a variety of applications that rely on location information, such as measurement, navigation, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and location-based services (LBS).
