Scope

This standard specifies the operating and installation conditions, technical parameters, design and structure, type testing, factory testing, on-site testing, packaging, storage and transportation, installation and maintenance, and technical documentation for start-up resistors used in flexible DC transmission systems.
This standard applies to start-up resistors used in flexible DC transmission systems, including AC-side start-up resistors and DC-side start-up resistors. The start-up resistors on the AC and DC sides of unified power flow controllers (UPFC) can be implemented in accordance with this standard.
