Scope

This standard specifies the classification and basic parameters, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking and packaging, transportation, and storage of mechanical balances.
This standard applies to mechanical balances (hereinafter referred to as balances) that use the lever principle to measure the mass of substances.
This standard does not apply to vacuum balances, thermal balances, remote-controlled balances, automatic recording balances, upper-pan balances, and balances manufactured according to agreements.
