Basic Information
Scope
1.1 This document:
——Specifies the safety parameters of escalators and automatic walkways, as well as their components and functions;
——Supplements the systems and methods stipulated in GB/T 39078.1 to reduce the potential safety risks that may arise during the operation, use, and maintenance of escalators and automatic walkways.
1.2 This document applies to the following escalators and automatic walkways, which can:
a) Be installed in any permanent and fixed structures, whether located within buildings or attached to buildings;
b) Have any of the following characteristics:
1) Rated load, speed, and dimensions of the carrying devices; and
2) Lifting height;
c) Be affected by fire in the carrying devices and climatic conditions;
d) Be subject to foreseeable misuse, excluding intentional vandalism.
1.3 This document does not specifically consider:
a) All the needs of disabled users; or
b) Risks caused by the following circumstances:
1) Installation, modification, and dismantling of escalators and automatic walkways;
2) Intentional vandalism; and
3) Fire in the external environment of the carrying devices.
