Scope

This standard specifies the calibration method for Auger electron spectrometers with an energy uncertainty of 3 eV, used for identifying conventional elements on surfaces. Additionally, it prescribes a method for determining the calibration cycle. This standard applies to instruments in direct mode or differential mode with a resolution of less than or equal to 0.5%, and a peak-to-peak value of the modulation amplitude in differential mode of 2 eV. This standard is suitable for spectrometers equipped with inert gas ion guns or other sample cleaning methods, and having a beam energy of 4 keV or higher.
