Scope

Main technical content: 5.5 Seeding 5.5.1 Level the seedbed and irrigate it thoroughly. After the water has infiltrated, mix the seeds with 5-10 times the amount of dry fine sand and evenly scatter them in the seedbed. 5.5.2 Cover the seeds with fine soil from adjacent seedbeds to a depth of about 1 cm. 5.6 Seedling management 5.6.1 Management after sowing and during the early seedling stage 5.6.1.1 For autumn sowing, the seedlings will emerge after about 7 days. After the seedlings emerge, irrigate once. 5.6.1.2 In mid-to-late November, irrigate once for winter protection. 5.6.1.3 For spring sowing, cover the seedbed with plastic film after sowing to maintain warmth and moisture. Remove the film promptly after the seedlings emerge. 5.6.2 Late seedling management 5.6.2.1 For autumn sowing, irrigate once for greening after the soil thaws in the following year. Combine irrigation with applying 5 kg of compound fertilizer (15-15-15) per 667 m2. After irrigation, weed and loosen the soil. 5.6.2.2 Thin the onion seedlings twice. The first thinning should leave a spacing of 2-3 cm between seedlings, and the second thinning should leave a spacing of 5-6 cm between seedlings. Combine thinning with weeding each time.
