GB 25285.2-2010 Explosive atmospheres—Explosion prevention and protection—Part 2:Basic concepts and methodology for mining
Basic Information
Scope
This section introduces the basic principles and methods for the design and manufacture of mine equipment, protection systems, and components, and provides general guidelines for explosion prevention and protection in the mining industry.
This section applies to Class I equipment, protection systems, and components intended for use in underground parts of mines and on-ground devices parts where there are risks of gas and/or combustible dust.
Note: Detailed information on specific equipment, protection systems, and components is specified by corresponding professional standards. The design and implementation of explosion-proof measures require relevant safety data on combustible substances (materials) and explosive environments.
This section specifies methods for identifying and assessing hazardous situations that may lead to explosions, as well as design and structural measures adapted to safety requirements. This is achieved through the following aspects:
——Hazard identification;
——Hazard assessment;
——Eliminating or minimizing hazards;
——Using information.
The safety of equipment, protection systems, and components can be achieved by eliminating hazards and/or limiting hazards, that is, by taking the following measures:
a) Reducing hazards through design;
b) Using safety protection devices;
c) Using information;
d) Taking additional preventive measures.
According to the requirements of Chapter 4 of GB/T 15706.2—2007, reducing hazards through design should not be confused with the "design" specified in Section 6.5 of this section.
The explosion-proof measures corresponding to a) (prevention) and b) (protection) are discussed in Chapter 6 of this section, and the explosion-proof measures corresponding to c) are discussed in Chapter 7 of this section. The explosion-proof measures corresponding to d) are not discussed in this section and are covered in Chapter 5 of GB/T 15706.2—2007.
