Scope

This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, storage, and safety of industrial isopentene. This standard applies to the etherification reaction of C5 in methanol and gasoline to produce methyl tert-butyl ether, which is then deetherified to obtain industrial isopentene. This product is mainly used in the production of fenofibrate and tert-butanol, and can also be used as an intermediate for synthetic rubber, resins, and organic synthesis.
